Manthe, Tang Receive Dean's Awards

Fischell Department of Bioengineering graduate students Rachel Manthe and Qinggong Tang were recognized by the Office of A. James Clark School of Engineering Dean Darryll J. Pinesfor outstanding research.

Manthe received 3rd Place in the Dean's Doctoral Research Award Competition for her work, "Investigation of vesicular-mediated transport of intercellular adhesion molecule-1-targeted carriers for treatment of lysosomal storage disordershStructure of the Blue Whirl: A Soot-Free." Manthe, who earned her Ph.D. in May 2017, is advised by BIOE and Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Associate Professor Silvia Muro.

Tang received 2nd Place in the Dean's Masters Research Award Competition for his work, "In Vivo Voltage-Sensitive Dye Imaging of Subcortical Brain Function." He is advised by BIOE Professor Yu Chen.

"Their research accomplishments are a testament to the level of scholarship produced by Clark School students and faculty," Pines said of all of this year's Dean's Award recipients.
