Vaccination during pregnancy and determinants of infant immunity

Abstract and Speaker Bio 

Marcela F. Pasetti, Ph.D., is Professor of Pediatrics and member of the Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA.
Her main area of expertise is vaccine immunology, and her research interests include maternal and infant immunization, mechanisms of protective immunity following infection and vaccination, immunity against mucosal pathogens, and correlates of protection. Her work has been funded uninterruptedly by NIH, foundations, and industry. Dr. Pasetti also oversees the Applied Immunology Section at the CVD and conducts innovative analyses of vaccine- and pathogen-specific immunity to support clinical studies. She is co-investigator in major NIH contracts that support human clinical studies (e.g., Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit- VTEU, and the Collaborative Influenza Vaccine Innovation Centers - CIVICs). Dr. Pasetti is Senior Editor of the ASM journal mSphere and fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
