BIOE researchers working in this area develop innovative technologies and processes to produce biological products efficiently, reliably and at scale. These researchers integrate biology, engineering, automation, biosensing and artificial intelligence to optimize bioprocesses and address challenges in the development and manufacturing of biotherapeutics. This multidisciplinary research area also focuses on generating and analyzing real-time experimental data to improve process control, accelerate scale-up and advance autonomous approaches to biomanufacturing.
