The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research funded a Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center at the University of Maryland to focus on improving rehabilitation interventions for patients with sensorimotor impairments resulting from a stroke, as well as for older adults who face a high risk of falls. The center aims to conduct advanced assessment and impairment-specific rehabilitation in combined home and hospital settings to benefit people with disability.
