It has been over 17 years since the Fischell Department of Bioengineering was established, and we are thrilled to announce that we are now launching a UMD BIOE Alumni Group. Our goal of the BIOE Alumni Group is to incite and maintain connections and collaborations among our alums, as well as between the department and our alums.

To that end, we are excited to host our first annual Fischell Department of Bioengineering
Alumni Reception on Tuesday, April 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The reception will be held in theZupnik Forum (Room #1101) of A. James Clark Hall, the home of BIOE since 2018, on the University of Maryland campus.

This year’s event will be headlined by BIOE Alum Dr. Matt Dowling (Ph.D., ’10), Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Medcura. Dr. Dowling co-created gel-e, a novel biomaterial platform, raising several initial grants to develop the technology and launch Medcura as a corporate entity.

 

In addition to enjoying food and drinks with fellow BIOE alums and hearing from our featured

speaker, guests will also enjoy tours of Clark Hall and participate in BIOE giveaways.

We strongly encourage those who plan to attend to RSVP as soon as possible. The deadline to RSVP is Friday, March 31.
