A new story about Fischell Department of Bioengineering Assistant Professor John Fisher was featured on the front page of The Diamondback, the University of Maryland's independent daily student newspaper. The article, titled "Face of the Future," decribes the efforts of Fisher and the Tissue Engineering & Biomaterials Laboratory to discover new ways to rebuild bone and help patients recover from traumatic facial injuries, particularly those around the eye sockets. The research is funded by a grant from the Maryland Stem Cell Commission, and uses adult stem cells found in bone marrow.
