Dr. Huang Presents at Engineering Conferences International – 06/06/18

Dr. Huang gave an Invited talk at the Engineering Conferences International: Nanotechnology in Medicine II: Bridging Translational in vitro and in vivo Interfaces in Albufeira, Portugal. Jillian Stabile Joins Lab as an Undergraduate Researcher – 06/01/18

Welcome to Jill, who recently joined the lab. Her research interests focus on photodynamic modulation to overcome multidrug resistance in cancer. Jill hopes to eventually matriculate into medical school to obtain her M.D.


Dr. Huang Chairs a Session and Gives Three Invited Talks at 2018 Biennial Meeting of the American Society for Photobiology – 05/13/18

Dr. Huang presented strategies for writing the Career Development and Mentoring portions of the NIH K99/R00 application to ASP Associate Members. The talks "Sub-cytotoxic photodynamic priming to re-shape cancer Care" and "Nanotechnology for Photoimmunotherapy" were well received by the community. Swapna Vaja Joins Lab as an Undergraduate Researcher – 04/02/18

Welcome to Swapna, who recently joined the lab. His research interests focus on photodynamic priming and extracellular vesicles for drug delivery. Swapna hopes to eventually matriculate into medical school to obtain his M.D.

Dr. Huang gave a podium presentation of his work on photodynamic priming at the third annual Molecular, Cellular and Tissue Bioengineering Symposium at Arizona State University, Tempe campus.


Ph.D. Candidates Collin Inglut and Barry Liang Join the Lab – 03/08/18

Welcome to our first two Ph.D. students, Collin Inglut and Barry Liang! ​Collin completed his B.S in Biomedical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and participated in cooperative education where he spent over a year working at Zimmer Biomet. Barry completed his B.S. in Biochemistry from St. Mary's College of Maryland and interned at NIH.

Dr. Huang gave an Invited talk at the SPIE Photonic West conference in San Francisco, CA. The talk took place in the "Pharmacokinetic Tomography: Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion" session of Visualizing and Quantifying Drug Distribution in Tissue. Dr. Huang Initiates NIH NCI R00 Award – 02/06/18

Dr. Huang received the R00 phase Award from NIH NCI for his drug delivery research for glioblastoma.


Welcome to the Lab, Dr. Yan Baglo! – 02/01/18

Dr. Yan Baglo has joined the lab as a postdoctoral research associate. Dr. Baglo comes to us following a postdoc with Prof. Tayyaba Hasan and Tianhong Dai at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Welcome to the lab, Yan!


Yahya Cheema Joins Lab as an Undergraduate Researcher – 02/01/18

Welcome to Yahya Cheema, who recently joined the lab. Yahya is a sophomore bioengineering student at the University of Maryland. He will be helping with lab setup and begin his research projects in the summer.


Launch of Huang Lab at UMD – 01/07/18

Dr. Huang joins the Fischell Department of Bioengineering as an Assistant Professor. The lab will be up and running by March.
