Our biomechanics and mechanobiology research programs span molecular, cellular, and tissue levels. Our mechanobiology labs are investigating how physical cues of the microenvironment affect cell and extracellular matrix behaviors involved in tissue homeostasis, healing, and disease progression. Biomechanics studies are characterizing and manipulating the forces and deformations experienced by biological tissues and organs, or their replacements. Research in these areas particularly focus on the vasculature, orthopaedic tissues, cancer, and stem cells.
