Diamondback Heralds Fischell's Opera Debut
The Diamondback has published a story covering the Fischell Department of Bioengineering's namesake Dr. Robert E. Fischell's foray into musical theater. Reporter Chris Yu describes how the inventor and alumnus landed a prominent role in a production of the Gilbert and Sullivan opera The Pirates of Penzance. Fischell's performance is already earning delighted reviews from audiences and theater professionals.
Fischell will sing in two shows this weekend at the campus' Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. The June 8 performance offers tickets at the regular price. The June 7 show is a fundraiser benefiting a performing arts scholarship fund. Ticket sales for the fundraiser have already exceeded a quarter of a million dollars.
